In August of 2005, a few days short of her 7th birthday, Sara Reuhling, a Chinese adoptee battling leukemia passed away. She was one of the most urgent cases in the nation in need of a bone marrow transplant. Dr. Casey Chan and many other active Chinese community leaders had joined Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches to help Sara, urging people to join the National Marrow Donor Program. Dr. Casey wishes to express her sincere condolences to Sara’s family upon hearing the saddened news.
Despite the loss of Sara, we are still working hard for children and adults who are in need of a marrow match. We expect to continue to hold drives in San Diego, as we have always since December 2004 at many local churches and events. Please contact Dr. Casey if you have any drive ideas or opportunities.
