As the Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, U.S. Representative Bob Filner of San Diego has been a staunch supporter of increasing chiropractic benefits for the Veterans Administration health care system. On February 12, 2009, Representative Filner submitted HR 1017 to the House, to require the VA to staff a Doctor of Chiropractic at every VA medical center by December 31, 2012. Currently only one-half of all the medical centers (approximately 33 sites) provide chiropractic care. We hope that these benefits are expanded soon to support our veterans. Similar bills have been submitted in 2006 and 2007 by Reps. Filner and Bradley.
